Last May 16, we happened to be in the area when we saw a long line of people in front of the CSI Stadia in Dagupan City. Upon closer inspection, we found out that GMA Kapuso network was holding auditions for its newly acquired franchise of the Survivor Reality TV Series. Not knowing what is in store behind those glass walls, we decided to fall in line as well and try our luck.
We joined the line at 9:15am...
It was true. people from all walks of life came to the auditions. The senior man nearing 60 below braved the heat for this. He was just not sure what Survivor was all about. The fair skinned lady at the back arrived in a high end SUV.
A kapuso cameraman taping the auditioners for proof that many people did go to the auditions.
Paolo Bediones, the anointed host himself giving the auditoners a pep talk.
"Kung kailang nyong umiyak at mag-drama, gawin niyo para mapansin ng producers."
Reality show hopefuls were screened 5 at a time. They asked questions like, "What would make you unique and interesting for the show?" One guy's answer was simple. "I want to win the 3 million pesos".
We didn't get through to the 3rd round of screening and went home at 4pm. It was a fun ride and after such a long wait we were just glad it was over so we could take a rest.
Did other Urdanetans get through? Let watch for it.
We are however reading on the net about some complaints that there seem to be cases of special treatment to models, talents and other showbiz wannabes who already have talent managers or friends inside the network:
