A PANGASINAN regional trial court judge has again lived up to his new monicker of “Fastest Judge Alive” in the Bench.
In the semestral report of all cases pending in a branch as of June last year, Judge Costales, presiding Judge of Regional Trial Court, Branch 45, Urdaneta City, Pangasinan emerged without a single case pending for decisions in his sala. He has also resolved all motions submitted for resolution.
Last year, Costales was also found having no case backlog by the end of December. Costales works immediately after lunch, on Saturdays and Sunday s at home and at the bus while he is commuting from home or office, his staff said.
He tries and disposes cases in accordance with Supreme Court circulars about prompt disposition of cases over which rule many judges have been fined and or dismissed due to their failure to comply with the rule to finish pending cases within 90 days.
Max G. Pascua, the Branch Clerk of Court of Branch 45, said Costales’ fresh record of no-backlog was already reported to Supreme Court Chief Justice Reynato S. Puno, chairman of the Committee on Zero Backlog of Cases and members of the committee.
Costales, even when he was yet a prosecutor in La Union for 24 years, has been known to be a ‘workaholic’ member of the judiciary. He is now also dubbed as the “Hanging Judge of Pangasinan” for having sentenced 26 persons to death.
