San Fabian closes beach on Holy Week

SAN FABIAN, Pangasinan – The local government unit (LGU) will temporarily close the San Fabian beach to tourists and beachgoers, specifically from April 1 to 4.

“An influx of tourists and beachgoers to San Fabian beach might cause traffic and any untoward incidents as well as a possible carrier of coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19),” Mayor Constante Agbayani said in the Executive Order No. 15 released to the public on Wednesday.

He said the increasing number of Covid-19 cases and its variants in other parts of the country is a threat to the residents of the town.

The Executive Order will take effect from 5 a.m. on April 1 until 9 p.m. on April 4.

Governor Amado Espino III in another EO issued on Tuesday advised component LGUs of coastal towns such as Lingayen and Binmaley to deploy barangay patrols on beaches to prevent overcrowding and violation of minimum health standards.

"Component LGUs are directed to strictly implement health protocols for markets and deploy patrols to monitor compliance,” he said.
