DSWD F01 releases 2,105 family packs to Typhoon ‘Mina’ victims in Urdaneta City, 3 Ilocos towns


San Fernando City (Aug. 28) – OIC- Regional Director Marlene Febes Peralta instructed the immediate release of relief augmentation assistance to meet the needs of typhoon ‘Mina’ victims in Region 1.
DSWD has released at least 2,105 family packs, 5 water jugs and 300 packs used clothings  in the amount of Php 553,398.00 to Urdaneta City and 3 towns of Piddig, Dingras and Marcos in Ilocos Norte.
This relief augmentation assistance is 30% of the reported affected families. In Urdaneta City, 1,260 with 6,300 persons are affected in 21 barangays.
While in the province of Ilocos Norte, 8,523 families or 32,693 persons in 134 barangays were affected by typhoon ‘Mina’.
Led by Governor Imee R. Marcos, the Provincial Government of Ilocos Norte has also provided assistance to typhoon victims in the amount of Php 23,757.00.
According to Director Peralta, some 500 family food packs were prepositioned in the province of Ilocos Norte on June 26, 2011 in anticipation of such typhoon occurrence so that there are readily available packs and to maximize material time in the immediate repons. The regional office is 5 hours land travel away from the province of Ilocos Norte.
Said goods (500 family packs) initially augmented the resources of the Local Government Units of Piddig, Dingras and Marcos, Ilocos Norte. ( By: Iryn Q. de los Reyes, Information Officer II)
