Soldier dies in Urdaneta mishap

A soldier died while his companion was seriously injured after their motorcycle was sideswiped by an unidentified vehicle last Tuesday on McArthur Highway in Urdaneta City, Pangasinan.

Police identified the fatality as Private First Class Rorie Nevea, of Ozamis City and assigned in Camp Tito Abat in Manaoag, Pangasinan. His injured companion was Private First Class Nelson Caoili Dulay, of Manaoag, Pangasinan.
Investigation disclosed that they were on board a motorcycle following a convoy of three motorcycles from Baguio City enroute to Urdaneta when a vehicle accidentally rammed the rear portion of their motorcycle.
Due to the impact, the victims were thrown to the ground and ran over by vehicles following them.
The victims were taken to a nearby hospital. Nevea was declared dead on arrival due to serious injuries while Dulay is still undergoing treatment.
Their companions tried to catch up with the vehicle involved in the accident but to no avail.
Police said that a follow- up investigation to identify the vehicle involved in the accident is ongoing.
