Saigon Restaurant

We were tired of going to the usual places to eat in Urdaneta so we decided to check out the recently opened Saigon restaurant Along McArthur Hway in Nancayasan near La Pia Taza (which we will be giving an separate review on , later).

We have been a bit cautious in going as we did not really know what to expect. Will they serve real Vietnamese food? It is Saigon Restaurant after all. But it also says "Asiatic cuisine" and frankly, we don't know what that exactly is.

We ventured into the place anyway and walked into the spacious dining hall. As it is still new, the dining tables were all shiny and clean. The whole room was lit in soft, semi bright ceiling lamps. The waiter gave us the menu and we ordered the Pho or Beef noodle together with Spicy Prawns and Stir Fried Chicken. The chicken and prawns were uneventful as we have tried similar or tastier versions although the prawns did have that rich tangy cucumber taste that must have leaked from the sliced fresh cucumbers that garnished the plate.

The winner of the evening however were the Vietnamese Noodles or Pho. The soup alone had a mixture of diffrent tastes that changed as they rushed in my mouth. The noodles were quite broad and flat like the fetuccine although this one looked (and at that time, tasted) better.

Are we going to go back?

Absolutely. My mouth is watering as I write this.

The signage

The ambience.

Stir Fried Chicken.

Spicy Prawns.  It has a fragrant cucumber smell.

Pho - The master of all noodles. See if you can ask for more vegetables.

However, one might get frustrated looking for the deserts list (becasue there is non!) - but if we had not asked the friendly waiter, we might have had to go through the entire menu without any luck.

All in all it was a great dining experience and we are sure to go back. Next time we will just have a big bowl of Pho each. Jai Ho!
