URDANETA CITY, Dec. 5 — All activities in the Urdaneta City fiesta will ground to a halt from morning till 3:00 p.m. on Sunday to allow the people to view the dream match between Filipino boxing idol Manny Pacquiao and Oscar de la Hoya on cable television in their homes.

City Mayor Amadeo Perez Jr. told newsmen that the city fiesta has been mobbed by thousands of Urdanetans and their visitors since it started last Dec. 1 and to last till Dec. 8 with daily competitions and fun-filled activities.

He explained they have a schedule to follow but the ones slated from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Sunday were reset for the next day to enable people to see the live feed from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada where Pacquiao will square off with De la Hoya.

The people will watch the fight in their cable TV Urban Satellite Vision (USATV) which negotiated with Solar Access for it to show the fight in its community channel 6 for the benefit of its subscribers in Dagupan City, Urdaneta City and 14 other towns of Pangasinan.

Perez said the people of Urdaneta all root for Pacquiao whom they predicted to win over De La Hoya by a knockout in the middle if not in the late rounds in their 12-round bout.

Among those who will be watching the fight are some 200 balikbayan from U.S. mainland and Hawaii who came as special guests during the Urdaneta City fiesta.

In Umingan town, Mayor Eldred Tumbocon, a rabid fan of Pacquiao, has called on all barangay captains to announce to their constituents to watch the De La Hoya-Pacquiao bout in a wide screen he will provide at the Umingan Municipal Stadium. (PNA)
