We applaud the efforts of the owners of Petron Gas Station for thier efforts to improve thier services. They recently installed a wireless internet hotspot for travellers and locals who need immediate internet connection to check important emails and other transactions.
All you need to do is to bring your laptop and configure your wireless settings (Most laptops should have an internal wireless antenna.) and you can surf away while sipping a nice cup of coffee.
The ambience is like that of a nice outdoor cafe with its two colorful mini gazebos. It would be a sight to see if this succeeds as a hang out for the techies and fashionistas.
The ridiculous thing though is when people use it as an alternative to a bar. It is getting more frequent now, that groups of people go there and order cans and cans of beer and pretend that they are in an outdoor bar in Malate and start being loud and rowdy. They even treat the convenience store staff like waiters and waitresses. I am embarrased for the ignorance of these people.
As for the owners of Petron, kindly monitor this development so as not to scare away potential customers and hotspotters. I know that setting up that hotspot is quite expensive.
